The Next Logical Step

Can movement return when you stop demanding the whole map and act only on the next available step?

01

The Shift

Waiting for the whole plan to become clear before acting is one of the most common ways change stalls indefinitely. Often only the next step is actually visible — and that may be enough.

02

The Experiment

  1. Name one area where you feel stuck because 'you don't know the whole plan.'
  2. Ask only: what is the next physically doable step, regardless of whether it's the 'right' one?
  3. Take that single step within 48 hours.
03

Now Go Live It

  • After completing the step, ask the same question again: what is the next logical step, now that this one is done?
  • Repeat for one week without trying to see further than one step ahead.
04

What Did You Notice?

  • Did the next step become visible only after you completed the previous one?
  • What changed in how 'stuck' the situation felt?
  • Where did you catch yourself demanding certainty before you were willing to move?
05

Why This May Have Happened

Demanding the whole map is often a stand-in for wanting guaranteed outcomes. Shrinking the decision unit to one step lowers the bar for action without requiring the uncertainty to resolve first.

06

Take This With You

This is not a productivity hack for its own sake — it's a test of whether movement, not certainty, is what was actually missing.
